After three successful seasons, the fourth part of the popular Spanish drama series, Money Heist released on the third of April. It was one of the most anticipated releases this year since the previous season was left on a cliffhanger.
The new season lived up to the hype that the show had generated and surpassed the expectations of its millions of viewers. It was packed with action, drama, romance, intrigue, humor and of course chaos. The cleverness of the professor shines yet again, this time under even more difficult circumstances. The multifaceted twists of the series take place in this season more than ever.
The tension between the police and the professor grows further each episode and the motif of the burglars soon drifts away from money and gold, to simply surviving and getting out of the situation alive like in previous parts. The trauma that the characters survive in this season (as well as in previous parts) creates life-like relationships that heighten the viewer’s investment in the survival of each ‘atracador.’
The season truly takes off when the sequence between the heist team and Gandia (the security chief) takes place, with rather emotional collateral damage. It’s interesting to see how the director (Álex Pina) and his team are able to sway an audience of millions to view criminals as protagonists repeatedly and so vividly antagonize a security chief.
The show is binge-worthy for sure, and anyone who hasn’t seen it should definitely use this time to do so!
